Mr Raistrick’s Experience
When Mr Raistrick was asked why he switched from gas central heating to green electric radiators he said:
“Partly it’s the future. From an environmental point of view we need to do away with fossil fuels. That was the main driver. I had a feeling that electricity would become less expensive, especially if you have your own solar panels, wind turbines or a generator.”
Like other homeowners with wet heating systems, Mr Raistrick faced many issues with his boiler. He disliked the amount of maintenance it required and that he needed to bleed his radiators every year.
“If the boiler broke down, and it often broke down while we were away on holiday, you’d get back and the house is cold and you have to find someone to come and fix it.”
Ongoing issues likes these can cost homeowners hundreds of pounds a year, on top of the money paid out in maintenance costs.
Mr Raistrick chose North East Heating Solutions because he likes working with small, local family businesses. After looking at independent reviews, and seeing that North East Heating Solutions was local to them, they went ahead with it.
“Howard gave a very good explanation of ELKAtherm electric radiators. He went through the costs, didn’t pressure us into going ahead straight away. He was happy for us to walk away and think about it or sign up then and there.”
Mr Raistrick commented that his new radiators are easy to control.
“You sort of have to get used to the idea, about the house being in little compartments to make the heating more efficient. I do like having electric radiators, and it just works, you don’t have to worry whether the boiler is firing up or not. And it’s environmentally friendlier.”
