However with electric heaters, this heat is spread more evenly, heating rooms to the temperature you want, when you want – only heating the spaces you wish.
To fully understand how an electric radiator heater spreads warmth around your home, it is essential to acknowledge that its two most important elements are the surface area and its ability to convect.
Along with conduction and radiation, convection is one of the three main types of heat transfer that involves the process where hot air rises and cold air falls. Through convection, warm air circulates around the room, ensuring that the whole space is heated evenly. Our ELKAtherm electric radiators have five times more surface area due to its fluted system. The combination of five times more surface area and convection created by the large amount of chimneys, created by the flutes ensures the most effective conversion of electrical energy into heat energy out.
Electric radiators are 100% efficient. The main reason a wet system is not as effective is because the heater which is closest to the boiler is the most efficient – the one which is the furthest away needs to work harder to get hot and maintain its temperature.
With an electric system you control what time you want your room to be at your ideal temperature. If you want the room warm at 9am, the electric heating system knows exactly when it must switch itself on, to get to the desired temperature by the desired time. If you leave a window or door open the radiator will turn off and turn back on when you close them.
Mr Everitt’s Experience
Mr Everitt approached North East Heating Solutions about switching from his wet heating system when he had a leak in his bathroom and bedroom radiators. After bringing in a professional to look at his gas system, he was told that because of the piping, it would continue to leak.
Knowing that he needed to completely replace his gas system, he started to do some research about the best heating system that was reliable and maintenance free.
Electric heating was the obvious choice and while looking at options, Mr Everitt found that most electric radiators were made using soap stone, which doesn’t retain heat as well as ceramic. When he discovered German manufactured ELKAtherm, built with a ceramic core, he knew that these radiators would heat his home efficiently.
Mr Everitt contacted North East Heating Solutions to discuss the benefits of ELKAtherm and to book his free home survey.
Howard arrived at Mr Everitt’s home and gave him an accurate quote, making recommendations on the types of radiators he would need for a warm and comfortable home.
“Howard explained that ELKAtherm radiators are quite economical to run and that it shouldn’t be too different from oil and gas.”
While gas radiators tend to stay on for as long as the heat is required, ELKAtherm only needs to switch on for a limited amount of time to heat up its ceramic core, which continues to radiate heat into the room hours after its been switched off. Mr Everitt found in his research that choosing a ceramic core radiator was worth the investment in the long run.
On installation day, North East Heating Solutions’ engineers came out to Mr Everitt’s house on time and installed his new ELKAtherm electric radiators.
“They were clean, tidy, and on time. They fitted the whole system in a day. I would recommend North East Heating Solutions to anyone who is looking to replace their wet heating system.”
